Small Claims Process Server

Did you know ?

According to the Los Angeles Superior Court System, both the Plaintiff that is the party initiating the lawsuit and the Defendant must be properly designated on the claim.

Can a Lawyer represent me ?

Both parties in a case may consult with a lawyer, however, a lawyer may not represent you in a small claims action.  The exception is that after a judgment is handed down by the judge and if an appeal is filed, then both parties may be represented by a lawyer.

How does the defendant find out  I filed a lawsuit ?

The defendant must be notified about your lawsuit filed with the small claims court.  The process is known as service of process, which includes giving the defendant a copy of the claim.

Can I serve the defendant myself ?

YOU CANNOT serve the defendant yourself.  If you require assistance in service of process please contact our office to request a registered process server.  Our process servers are registered with the County of Los Angeles as well as insured.  We know the law of process serving and will do the job right.  An agent will serve your documents for a fee and complete a signed a proof of service indicating when the defendant was served.
